Introduced to the Bundeswehr in the mid-1960s, Schneetarn ("snow camouflage") scatters dark, needle-like blotches across a white base — breaking up the flat, unnatural silhouette a pure-white garment creates against real snow cover, which rarely hides every patch of ground, rock, or evergreen. The design darkened and grew more solid over time; this reproduction reflects that later, higher-contrast version. Decades of continuous issue, plus documented use and local copies from Serbia to Ukraine to Russia, made it one of the most widely recognized snow patterns in Europe.
A full-zip fleece jacket in 280g/m² knit polyester — thick enough to function as an outer layer in mild conditions, structured enough to work as a midlayer under a shell. The lightly brushed interior adds warmth without bulk. Stand-up collar and panelled construction keep the silhouette close without restricting movement.
