Strichtarn — the East German NVA’s “rain pattern,” all thin vertical strokes in olive and rust — never tried to be subtle. It was cheap to print, fast to recognize, and about as Warsaw Pact as camouflage got. We took that same striped DNA and ran it through a modern multi-scale treatment: micro and macro elements layered together the way contemporary multi-environment patterns do it, so the old rain-stripe rhythm still reads at a glance, but the depth and detail hold up at both arm’s length and across a room.

This one’s not a reconstruction — nothing wears a Strichtarn shirt with a Trabant parked out front in real life. It’s a deliberately anachronistic mashup, built for the same impulse that puts a hammer-and-compass patch on a jean jacket at a flea market: half affection, half kitsch, entirely aware of what it’s winking at.

A note on fit and finish: every piece is cut and printed on demand. Expect natural variation of 1–3 cm between garments, and slight differences between the mockup and the finished pants — fabric behaves differently than a screen.
